Apparently it’s a tradition at Pittsburgh weddings to have a cookie table at the reception, piled with homemade cookies baked by the bride's family. Aunt Candy asked my mom and I to each bake some cookies for my cousin's wedding this weekend.
I decided peanut butter, and thought this would be a fun project. After all, I hardly ever bake. The recipe said it yielded 24 cookies, so I decided to double it. 4 dozen would be an adequate amount, thought I. (I think most are aware that apart from my failed attempt at a bread baking business, I don't have a lot of baking experience.) I should have guessed that 4 cups of sugar, 4 sticks of butter, and 5 cups of flour would yield more than 48 cookies, but alas.
3 hours and 120 cookies later, I never want to see another peanut butter cookie as long as I live. Ever.
