Moving On

I officially started full-time on Monday, and have started making like a sponge and soaking up all the information coming at me from all directions. Thus far, as I'm learning and having small successes (answering inquiry calls and taking enrollments!) my confidence is growing and I'm feeling more comfortable. I have been thrilled with all the people I'm meeting, especially the teachers who are coming here from all over the world! I have the chance if I take it to practice Spanish, and also to learn a bit of French, German, and Italian! I think a challenge for me will be learning the balance between building friendships with these people, but also being able to work with them in a professional manner. I'm going to be one of their managers, so I need to make sure that I'm conscious of that. I'm also definitely the youngest member of the team by about 5 or 6 years, and so I'll have to be conscious about building respect among everyone as well.

The good news is that when I originally signed my contract, it was as the regional assistant center director, and so I accepted knowing that lots of commuting was inevitable. However, due to some recent changes, I have TODAY accepted a permanent position as the ACD at the Naperville center!! I'll be working one day a week at Hinsdale and the rest at Naperville, so no more commuting, and the opportunity to really get to know one center, its system, and its clientelle!

More to come as the weeks of preparation come to an end and the fall season starts on Tuesday! I think it's going to feel like starting over again. Can't wait to see Jennifer tomorrow!

Caity!
Great news about being in Naperville!!! I'm so glad you won't have to be commuting so far. It's such a drag, and with gas prices only getting higher! Anyway, I'm sure I'll hear more about all of that tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you!
