SUCCESS AT LAST!

I finished the blanket...5 years in the making! It's entirely handstitched applique and it took quite a few hours of labor. All that's left are some finishing touches around the edges. YAY!

The bottom is my first sewing machine project. A shirt for Hawaii!

Lessons on Being Cool

Some of you might remember that I participated with Big Brothers Big Sisters in college. My little bro, Ryan and I were matched when he was 7, and even though we no longer live in the same state, we still keep in touch. Ryan is now a sophomore in highschool and way cooler than I will ever be. Here's an exerpt of today's Facebook conversation:

Healthy Discount

I just got a letter from my health insurance company saying that due to the rising cost of health care, on my 12-month anniversary date my premium will be increased by 47%. However, since I have filed NO CLAIMS during the past year, I might be eligible for a 10% good health discount.

Now that is a relief! Now my premium for an insurance policy I haven't even used is only going up by 37% per month. Good thing I'm so healthy!

The Truth

Even though I am a little embarrassed to admit it, it's time the truth be known. Despite the fad, health benefits, and superior social standing of dark chocolate, I really prefer milk chocolate!
